Laser

Lasers have become a part of our daily lives.  They are in our computers, and we see them in the grocery store when we buy our food.  Lasers are also a part of dentistry.

A number of different kinds of lasers are used in dentistry, and they are particularly useful for treating the gums and soft tissue problems.  The benefits of laser include faster healing, less bleeding and reduced swelling.

Prior to using the laser, we provide you with special protective glasses, and then we may numb the area we will work on.  We then sweep the gentle beam over the affected area.  The narrow beam removes only a specific number of cell layers on each pass, so Dr. Hakes has precise control over the procedure.  Dr. Hakes and her team have taken numerous hours of continuing education and have been certified on the use of lasers and have many years of experience using the laser.

Lasers can be used in a wide range of procedures including esthetic gum recontouring, lesion removal, treatment of gum disease and removal of excess gum tissue and gum surgery.

Please feel free to ask any of our team members how lasers have enhanced the world of dentistry.
