Sterilization

Patient and team member health and safety are first and foremost on our minds.  Dr. Hakes and her team strive to maintain the high standards we have set for infectious control.  The first area is in education.  Every year we meet or exceed the number of hours mandated for health and safety.  Every team member is kept up to date on CPR and First Aid Training.  By being up to date in emergency procedures and training, we are ready to handle most dental emergencies.  Additionally, we work with a consultant who keeps us up to date and focused on the issues that may impact both patients and team members and meet on an annual basis to review and discuss these issues.

All team members that are involved in clinical or lab areas wear masks, lab coats and gloves.  Patients are provided glasses to wear to protect their eyes.  After a patient leaves the operatory, sterilization entails disinfecting the room with approved sterilization materials, covering of chair and equipment with plastic and autoclave of instruments (used or not).

Please feel free to ask us about our sterilization procedures and to see our sterilization room or area.
